Agape Community Center Awarded Grant by The Goizueta Foundation

The Agape Community Center is proud to announce a new three year partnership with the Goizueta Foundation in support of our After School Retention/Transition Program and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Classes.  The generous 3 year grant in the amount of $100,105 will fund the After-School/Student Retention & Transition Program to enhance the current elementary program with a special focus on student retention by providing additional resources, materials, activities, and personnel for children in an effort to promote literacy and the transition from elementary to middle and middle to high school.  In addition, this program is designed to curtail the decrease in Hispanic/Latino student participation in school and other related activities as they get older.  Moreover, Agape desires to provide ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) Classes to facilitate English language acquisition for individuals whose native tongue is not English and enable them to use English to communicate and demonstrate academic, social, and cultural proficiency.
