Last year, the Agape Community Center celebrated 10 years of "building communities and strengthening familes". What a busy 10 years it has been! Thanks to tremendous community and volunteer support and a dedicated staff, Agape provides an invaluable service to the Bolton Road community. In 1997, the Agape Center opened its doors in the first floor of the Atlanta Union Mission building. Agape was the brainchild of Rev. Joanna Adams and the Mission council of Trinity Presbyterian Church and became a reality with the financial support of Gay Love, aTrinity member and her family. Agape (which means "love") now has 16 staff members abd serves 150 to 200 per week.
The 10 year celebration began on Sunday, April 29, 2007 with a fabulous birthday bash at the Agape Community. The celebration continued the following night with a dinner at Lobby at Twelve at Atlantic Station. Rev. Joanna Adams was the featured speaker for the evening. Special thanks to Paula McInerny and Barrie Boyd for chairing the dinner and to Nancy and Jack Calhoun and Janet Pierce for chairing the birthday bash.
